However, their final roster is yet to be determined. Alperen Sengun, Cedi Osman, Shane Larkin and Scottie Wilbekin faced strong criticism for not joining the squad when training camp started.
Initially, Sengun didn't want to take part in the national team during the preparation process and wanted to come directly to the qualifiers. His request was not accepted by the federation. But that changed, according to Fanatik's Gokhan German.
The Houston Rockets big man has reportedly decided to travel to Italy to participate in the national team camp in two days, and is expected to play in friendly matches in Trento and Istanbul.
Alperen Sengun has only played in the NBA in 2021. However, he has gone through 2 fairly good seasons individually with the Houston Rockets. He was selected 16th overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder. In two seasons in the NBA (2021-2023), Alperen Sengun has played in 147 regular season games. He averaged 12.3 points per game with 7.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
Cedi Osman, on the other hand, asked to be excused from the national team in order to prepare for the new NBA season.
Scottie Wilbekin and Shane Larkin also stated that they wanted to prepare for the new season because they had injuries from last season and turned down the invitation of the national team. Larkin is expected to undergo an MRI next Monday.
