FC Barcelonahave made the decision to strengthen their squad for the coming season. The Catalan team has selected 28-year-old forwardJabari Parkeras the man in charge of occupying the power forward position left vacant after Nikola Mirotic's departure.

The agreement between Parker, who had been a free agent since January 2022, and FC Barcelona is valid for one year (until 2024) and subject to the player's successful medical tests. According to Xavi Ballesteros from L'Esportiu, it also includes some clauses that allow Barca to cut the player in case he relapses from his injuries.

HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reported that the deal is worth an estimated $2 million and includes an NBA opt-out clause.

With a professional career filled with ups and downs, Parker has proven his worth in the NBA despite the injuries that have affected his performance in recent years. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Parker rose to fame as a star at Duke University, where he left an impressive mark as one of college basketball's most outstanding players.

After being selected second in the 2014 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, Parker began his career in the league displaying dazzling offensive skills. In the 2016-17 season, his third in the NBA, he averaged 20.1 points per game. However, some significant injuries interrupted his progress and forced him to fight for a spot on different teams -- Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings and Boston Celtics, but without success.

He spent the 2022-23 season without a team. In the 2021-22 season, Parker averaged 4.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in 12 appearances for the Celtics. Overall, Parker has career averages of 14.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 310 games played.

The arrival of Jabari Parker adds to other notable signings of the Catalan team, consolidating a promising and ambitious squad ahead of next season. With new names such as Willy Hernangmoez, Dario Brizuela, and Joel Parra, the team led by Roger Grimau will seek to compete at the highest level both in the domestic league and in the EuroLeague.
