After a friendly game in the Acropolis Tournament against Greece, Petrusev commented about it himself in an interview with Sportal.
"I survived, that's [the most] important. It was tricky, we swallowed a bit of smoke. We walked with our suitcases on the beach for two hours, it was maybe the strongest training I've ever done in my life," he admitted.
"I have to admit that it wasn't easy at all. Nothing was well organized," Petrusev said. "We pulled through, and that's the most important thing."
Earlier in July, Petrusev participated in the NBA Summer League with the Philadelphia 76ers. In the end, he received a contract to play in the NBA, realizing a dream of his.
"I went to America for the third time for the Summer League. I have to admit that it is a specific type of basketball," the player said. "It somehow serves players who don't have a club. I already had something agreed. I went more to meet the coaching staff and coaches and to get used to that style of play."
The match against Greece was the first public game of the Serbian national team. In the week before, they played two closed games against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Poland.
"We changed a lot in those first two games, we're getting used to it. We haven't played with each other in the past, so those two games served us more to get to know each other and to establish the atmosphere, which is at a great level, and now we need to fully devote ourselves to preparing for the World Cup," Petrusev said.
Serbia controlled the game against Greece throughout the majority of the 40 minutes in OAKA. After the game, Petrusev was confident that despite not having Nikola Jokic and Vasilije Micic, the Serbs still have a better team than the Greeks.
"The Greeks had two stronger games [before], but when we look at their roster and ours, I think we have a better team, and I think we are better as a team," he said. "It's still early. From game to game, we are playing more and more and I think we were okay as far as the things the coach asks of us. There is a lot of room for improvement both in attack and in defense, and in rebounding, but I think it was okay."
