A promising payday is here for Josh Hart, the highly sought-after addition to the New York Knicks, during the trade deadline.

Despite having a $12.9 million player option for the 2023-24 season in his contract from the Portland Trail Blazers, Hart's performance in his 25 games with the Knicks arguably exceeded all expectations.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Knicks guard is finalizing a four-year, $81 million contract extension with the team. The deal delivers Hart a total of $94M through the 2027-28 season, per the same report.

Averaging 10.2 points and 7.0 rebounds, he played a significant role in securing the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference for New York and even led them to their first playoff series victory in ten years.

Initially, Hart had expressed his desire to decline the player option and explore free agency. However, after some persuasion, he decided to accept it.
