The Golden State Warriors affiliate team, Santa Cruz Warriors, have officially announced that Kerr's son Nick will be their head coach in the season that starts November 10. Kerr, 30, will have his first career coaching experience. He replaces Seth Cooper, who will now run the team’s player development program.
Nick Kerr, who did not step into professional basketball despite his college career in the USA, served as the video coordinator of the San Antonio Spurs in the 2017-18 season. He then transferred to the Golden State Warriors and held the same position for three seasons, before working as an assistant coach with the Santa Cruz Warriors for the past two years.
He is the eldest child of Steve Kerr and his wife, Margot. Nick Kerr averaged 1.3 points in 47 career college games (one start) for San Diego (2011-12; 2013-15) and Cal (2015-16).
