Giannis Antetokounmpo's availability for the World Cup continues to be a big mystery. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar hasn't taken part in a single practice session -- nor has he appeared in any event hosted by the Greek federation, including the friendly game against Slovenia on August 4, where Nikos Galis was honored.

According to Vangelis Ioannou from Greek public radio ERA SPORT, Giannis is currently in the United States, undergoing the final medical tests and carrying out all the measurements needed to find out the extent to which his knee has recovered. The goal is to make a definite decision as to whether he'll be able to join Greece down the road, provided his doctors allow him to do so.

This is Giannis' second trip to the States, after the one to cure the problem that beset him. Everything will be done in consultation with the Greek federation, the team's coaching and medical staff, and the Bucks' medical staff as well.

Antetokounmpo, 29, was also experiencing some discomfort in his back and now seems willing to exhaust the possibilities. Greece are also willing to wait a few more days for him, having constructed their tactical plans both with and without him.

According to Ioannou, Friday might be the crucial day for his decision, even though chances are Giannis won't make it.

On the contrary, the chances of Kostas Antetokounmpo getting back on time for the World Cup are far bigger compared to his brother. The situation is expected to clear up after Greece returns from Abu Dhabi, where they will play against the USA and Germany on 18 and 19 August.
