Leading the squad is Los Angeles Lakers forward Wenyen Gabriel. He is joined by former NBA guard Maryal Shayok, who spent the last season in the G-League playing for the Maine Celtics after representing Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul in the EuroLeague the year before.
South Sudan were the most dominant team in the World Cup African Qualifiers, winning 11 games out of 12 in the Second Round. The country's basketball federation is led by former NBA forward Luol Deng.
The roster, which is currently in a training camp in Melbourne, Australia, is led by head coach Royal Ivey, a former NBA player himself, who currently works as an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets.
South Sudan will play in Group B in the World Cup against China, Puerto Rico, and Serbia. The group's games will be hosted in Manila, the Philippines.
