This choice comes after a series of friendly games and his return from the "Acropolis Tournament" held in Athens.

Nedovic has conveyed his decision to coach Svetislav Pesic and national team director Dragan Tarlac.

In clarifying his determination, Nedovic stated:

"I've always upheld a steadfast commitment to the jersey, my country, and the national team," he said. "This unwavering dedication has been evident throughout my career. To avoid any misconceptions in the public sphere, I feel compelled to explain my reasons for withdrawing from the World Cup-bound national team.

"While I consistently set the highest personal goals, I've come to realize, during our preparations – which I've always embraced with enthusiasm – that I am currently below the optimal level of performance required for this caliber of competition and our team's aspirations," Nedovic continued.

"Regrettably, I could not fulfill the role assigned to me, thereby limiting my potential contribution to the national team. With the team's best interests at heart and recognizing that the collective outweighs individual considerations, I communicated my sentiments to coach Svetislav Pesic. I extend sincere gratitude for the trust he showed in me."

Serbia faces the approaching FIBA Basketball World Cup with multiple important absences, including Nikola Jokic, Vasilije Micic, Nikola Kalinic, and Aleksej Pokusevski, among others.
