White became ill at 1:12 p.m. Thursday at the school. Family said he was working out with his team when he collapsed.Life-saving procedures were administered until paramedics arrived. Hewas taken by ambulance to St. Vincent's East where he was pronounced dead at 2:23 p.m., said Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.
Pinson Valley High School is located in Pinson, a suburb of Birmingham. White, a point guard, was ranked as the No.3 player in the state and No. 43 in the country at his position by ESPN. He had not yet declared what college he would attend.As a sophomore, White averaged 17.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.
