According to Olgun Uluc from ESPN, the starting center for the Australian squad, who also plays for the Houston Rockets, limped off the court after twisting his left ankle just five minutes into Thursday's game.
Concerningly, Landale had already missed the Boomers' previous two friendly games against Brazil and Venezuela due to issues with his ankle.
Olgun Uluc also mentions that Landale is scheduled for an MRI on Friday. However, Brian Goorjian, the head coach of the Australian national team, said he doesn't expect him to be available for the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
"I'm on the mindset right now as if we don't have him," Goorjian said of Landale, per ESPN.
Reportedly, coach Goorjian stated that Landale wouldn't be accompanying the Boomers on their flight to Tokyo, Japan, which is also set for Friday.
Australia's schedule includes a warm-up game against France on August 20, followed by another exhibition contest against Georgia in Okinawa before the World Cup kicks off.
The Australian Boomers plan to proceed with the 12-man team they currently have. Goorjian revealed that while Jack White was initially not part of the 13-man squad, he will now be included in the final team for the World Cup. No other changes to the roster are anticipated.
