Usman Garuba declares ankle woes over: "My ankle is fine."
Credit: FIBA Credit FIBASpanish national team big man Usman Garuba has expressed relief at overcoming his ankle issues and excitement about rejoining the squad.
Garuba made his comeback on Thursday night in Spain's closely contested game against Canada, which ended in a narrow 80-85 overtime defeat in Granada.
Speaking on Friday, he revealed that he has been feeling good for the past few days and that his ankle troubles, suffered on August 11 vs. Slovenia, are now a thing of the past.
"My ankle is fine. Thanks to the physios and the physical trainers. We have strengthened the ankle, and I am happy to be back," he said.
Despite losing the friendly game at home, Garuba highlighted the team's determination to win.
"We're a competitive group, always striving for victory. While we'll take away important lessons from this game, we shift our focus to the next challenge. We'll have another shot against Canada in the World Cup if things go as planned. We need to be prepared to enhance our performance and make necessary adjustments," he explained.
"It's no secret that Canada presents one of the most physically demanding challenges. To secure victory, we need to meet or exceed their level in terms of physicality. We aim to come out on top in the next encounter," Garuba concluded.
