The Spanish national team edged out the Dominican Republic in a friendly game on Saturday. After the match, head coach Sergio Scariolo announced the list of players who will travel to the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Alberto Diaz recently suffered an injury and Scariolo was initially unsure about which player he would bring. However, additional tests were carried out on Sunday, August 20th, that revealed Diaz would be fit for the tournament.

Officially, Alberto Abalde, Sebastian Saiz, Jaime Fernandez, and Jaime Pradilla were cut from the roster.

Led by the Hernangomez brothers - Juancho and Willy, Spain will feature many of the players that won the EuroBasket 2022 last year.

After first not being invited to the training camp at all, Juan Nunez will take on the duties of the main point guard after Ricky Rubio withdrew due to mental issues.

Spain will compete in Group G alongside Iran, Cote d'Ivoire, and Brazil. The four teams will play their first-round games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
