Alberto Diaz was questionable to participate in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. The Spanish Basketball Federation has now clarified the player's status.

The guard left the game early against Canada on Thursday and did not compete against the Dominican Republic on Saturday, prompting head coach Sergio Scariolo to declare 13 players for the 2023 FIBA World Cup due to Diaz's injury.

However, after additional tests on Sunday, it was declared that Diaz would be fit to compete in the World Cup. As such, Jaime Fernandez has been cut from the roster.

Diaz will share point guard duties with youngster Juan Nunez and veteran Sergio Llull after Ricky Rubio stopped his basketball career due to mental issues.

Spain will compete in Group G alongside Iran, Cote d'Ivoire, and Brazil. The four teams will play their first-round games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
