But then, Lonzo Ball went down with a knee injury and the team began to struggle without their starting point guard.
Ball only played 35 games that season and from there he disappeared. He didn't play a single game last season while still recovering from his knee issues and Chicago Bulls GM Arturas Karnisovas said that the team doesn't expect him to return this season either.
During a conversation with Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young in a podcast, Ball revealed that he feels bad for his injury because the Bulls could have been something special if he'd stayed healthy.
"I feel bad, mostly for the GMs because I feel like they made the perfect team around me", Ball explained during the interview. "I was heavily involved, I felt like that was a time where I really felt as part of something bigger. I felt like the team was the perfect fit for me and my game. So the injury really messed me up because I felt like we had a chance but we never got to see what it was".
Before joining the Bulls in 2021, Ball had also played for the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Orleans Pelicans.
