Bennedict Mathurin, Team Jalen win NBA Rising Stars Game
Team Jalen Rose made sure therewere no upsets this time around as they beat Team Detlef Shrempf,25-13, to win the NBA Rising Stars Game at All-Star Weekend inIndianapolis.
Team Detlef, composed of playersfrom the NBA G League, scored a huge 41-36 upset win over astar-studded Team Pau Gasol (led by 2023 No. 1 overall pick VictorWembanyama) earlier to advance to the championshipgame.
The G League players brought thefight to the lottery picks, with the Osceola Magic’s Mac MaClungand Sioux Falls Skyforce’s Alondes Williams leading the way with 12and 11 points, respectively. G League Ignite and 2024 NBA Draftprospect Matas Buzelis finished the game with a turnaround jumperfrom the right wing to complete the upset and kick the overwhelmingfavorites out of the competition.
However, Team Detlef fell shortin the end against a locked-in Team Jalen. Led by BennedictMathurin of the hometown Indiana Pacers, Team Jalen got off to astrong start and never looked back.
