The 35-year-old McGee averaged 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in 42 appearances for the Mavs last season.
Charania also adds that Dallas is expected to re-sign forward Markieff Morris to a deal.
Morris joined the Mavericks in the Kyrie Irving trade and made 8 appearances for the club.
The 33-year-old averaged 4.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.
