"With this team, we've assembled a group of players which we believe can compete with any team in the world," head coach Jordi Fernandez said. Canada's roster features three players with previous World Cup experience, including captain Kelly Olynyk, who will be playing in the tournament for the second time after representing Canada at the FIBA World Championship 2010.
Olynyk is one of seven current NBA players on Canada's roster. The others are Nickeil Alexander-Walker, RJ Barrett, Dillon Brooks, Luguentz Dort, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Dwight Powell.
Canada is in Group H and will face France (August 25), Lebanon (August 27), and Latvia (August 29) in the Group Phase in Jakarta, Indonesia.

This will be Canada's 15th appearance in the FIBA Basketball World Cup (formerly World Championship), with their highest finishing being back-to-back sixth-place finishes in 1978 and 1982.
The Canadian men can directly qualify for the Paris Olympics with a top-two finish amongst teams from the Americas at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
The World Cup is set to take place from August 25 to September 10, and will feature the best 32 men's teams. The Group Phase will take place in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia, with the Final Phase to follow in the Philippines capital city of Manila.
