Philippines game vs Dominican Republic will set an attendance record / News - Basketnews.com

At least 43,000 people will attend the match between the Philippines and the Dominican Republic, shattering the previous FIBA World Cup attendance record of 32,616 set in 1994.

The Philippine national team will play its first game in the 2023 FIBA World Cup against the Dominican Republic. A record crowd will watch the match.

The duel will take place in the Philippine Arena, the largest indoor venue in the world that holds up to 55,000 spectators. It is expected that 43,000 people will watch the game, shattering the previous FIBA World Cup record.

The previous record of 32,616 spectators was set during the 1994 FIBA World Championship match between Team USA and Russia.

The Philippine Arena set the attendance record for any indoor sporting event this year when 54,589 fans watched Game 7 of the 2023 PBA Commissioner's Cup in January between Barangay Ginebra and Bay Area.

Only two games will be played in the venue, and both on the same day - August 25th. The first game will feature a matchup between Angola and Italy at 16:00 GMT+8. The game between the Philippines and the Dominican Republic is set to start at 20:00 GMT+8.
