Nets fire head coach Jacque Vaughn, promote Kevin Ollie to interim coach
The Brooklyn Nets have dismissedhead coach Jacque Vaughn and subsequently promoted assistant KevinOllie to the interim-head-coach role, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowskireports.
Vaughn, 49, had an overallrecord of 71-68 in two-plus seasons as the Nets’ head coach.However, Brooklyn has struggled this season with only 21 wins in 54games, leading to the firing.
"To Joe Tsai, Clara Wu-Tsai,Ollie Weisberg, Sam Zussman, Sean Marks and front office, Netscoaches, staff, players, BSE family, and the entire Brooklynborough: It was a pleasure being your Head Coach," Vaughn said in astatement. "I hope each individual I interacted with felt respectedand valued. Just know I gave you everything I had every single day.Onto the next chapter. Amor Fati."
Vaughn will be replaced by the51-year-old Ollie, who joined the Nets as an assistant coach thisseason. The 2014 NCAA champion coach with UConn will have anopportunity to try and turn the season around for Brooklyn with 28games left in the year.
