After first losing to the Dominican Republic in a close 40-minute fight, the Philippines were defeated by Angola on Sunday.
In the middle of the fourth quarter, Angola held a 15-point lead. Gilas Pilipinas mounted a comeback that cut the deficit to just five, but they didn't manage to pull out a win in the end.
Clarkson stressed the Filipino mentality, saying that the team will keep fighting until there still is a chance to advance to the Second Round.
"We don't give up. We're going to keep fighting, keep playing, and still compete," he said after the game. "That's a good thing for us. We figured it out a little late, but somehow we just have to continue going."
"They just kept playing hard. They executed what needed to be done. They just beat us," the player told the media.
Gilas Pilipinas still have a game to play against Italy on Tuesday, August 29th. Depending on the game's outcome and the match between Angola and the Dominican Republic, they can still go through as the second-best team in Group A.
"It's tough, but we got to get over it. We still got games to play. That's all we can do," Clarkson concluded.
