Specifically, the NBA champion reached out to Dozier, his former teammate, during their time with the Nuggets (2019-22). Jokic took the opportunity to paint a vivid picture of Serbia, the city of Belgrade, and the passionate Partizan fans.
In Dozier's own words during a conversation with MozzartSport:
"We heard each other. He called me on the phone when he found out I was about to come to Serbia and sign with Partizan. He told me about the city, Serbia, and the fans. When he put his stamp on the whole story, then I really felt the delight of coming here.
"I've been telling everyone for years that Nikola Jokic is the best basketball player I've played with. He's taught me so much. I've grown tremendously alongside him because he has a completely different perspective on basketball -- a truly unique take on the game. The way he plays is so selfless, and that's something he's passed on to all his teammates, including me."
