The American big man spent the last two seasons with Bayern Munich under coach Andrea Trinchieri, who had a big influence on the player.
Before joining Bayern, in fact, Hunter was already considering retirement but after speaking with the Italian coach he decided to continue his career for a bit more.
Hunter has played for some of the most important teams in Europe, including Real Madrid, CSKA Moscow, Olympiacos, and Maccabi Tel Aviv.
During his career in Europe, Hunter won one EuroLeague title with CSKA Moscow, two VTB Leagues, two Greek leagues with Olympiacos, two Israeli leagues with Maccabi Tel Aviv, and a Spanish Cup with Real Madrid.
The big man announced his decision with a thread on X and took a moment to thank all his coaches and agents. He also gave precious advice to the next generation of players.
"To the next generation of athletes don’t worry about what the next person is getting. Always worry about yourself and becoming the best you as possible. Never stop believing in yourself. Never take practices or games off. Continue to keep working on your craft", Hunter wrote.
