Talking to the media in the mixed zone, the naturalized guard seemed shaken after yet another defeat.
"Tough one again. I feel like I'm coming back saying the same thing. A tough game. We were playing hard. Fight is all I can say right now. The team is competing," Clarkson said.
South Sudan got off to a hot start early on and had a 21-point lead near the end of the second quarter. Even though Gilas Pilipinas managed to narrow it down to just 5 points in the fourth quarter, it wasn't enough to capture the victory.
"They were making shots," Clarkson said about the opponents. "We made an adjustment - it was the reason why we started coming back to the game. We needed another adjustment to finish the game up."
With only one game left in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Gilas Pilipinas now fight only for a spot in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament next year.
"Film, practice, trying to figure out what to do," Clarkson said about the next steps. "We just didn't get it done."
