On Friday, the first eight second-round games took place, with all the teams in the Top 16 vying for a spot in the Quarter-Finals.

The situation was exactly the same in each of the four groups.

Serbia and the Dominican Republic (Group I), USA and Lithuania (Group J), Slovenia and Germany (Group K), Canada and Spain (Group L) had a 3-0 record.

Meanwhile, Italy and Puerto Rico (Group I), Montenegro and Greece (Group J), Australia and Georgia (Group K), Brazil and Latvia boasted a 2-1 record.

To start the day off, Serbia wasted a significant third-quarter lead and ultimately lost to Italy. While Germany comfortably defeated Georgia, the USA struggled against Montenegro for 38 minutes before running off with the win in the end.

Latvia, however, continued their Cinderella run in the World Cup. This time, they defeated the reigning world champions, Spain, and ensured that their fate now lies in their own hands.

Even though the Dominican Republic was favored in the matchup against Puerto Rico, they couldn't keep a lead in the fourth quarter and lost despite a dominant performance from Karl-Anthony Towns.

Australia needed to defeat Slovenia in order to have a chance to play in the World Cup quarterfinals. Luka Doncic was kept largely intact, but other Slovenia's players capitalized on the opportunity. Australia didn't lead a single time in the game and lost all hope of playing in the quarterfinal.

Lithuania outscored Greece by 29 points in the second half en route to an easy win.

In the last game of the day, Canada struggled mightily against Brazil. Scoring just 52 points in three quarters and 65 overall, the Shai Gilgeous-Alexander-led squad was handed its first loss of the tournament.

Canada must now win their last game against Spain to advance past the Second Round.

Every game of the World Cup can be streamed live or on-demand via the official Courtside 1891 platform. (Streaming restrictions apply)
