Luka Doncic was largely stopped, but it was not enough for Australia to beat Slovenia. The underdogs took the victory and qualified for the quarterfinals by a score of 91-80 (28-18, 21-22, 17-22, 25-18).

Slovenia started controlling the game from the very first minutes. Doncic took advantage of a pick-and-roll trap defense from Australia, and Mike Tobey got easy points from the paint.

Boomers weren't able to narrow the deficit down during the game. While Doncic was not nearly as efficient as in previous games, other players took the chance and executed.

Doncic recorded 18 points (4/9 FG, 8/9 FT), grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 6 assists, but had 4 fouls and 6 turnovers.

Mike Tobey, however, played his best game of the tournament, finishing the contest with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists for a game-leading efficiency score of 33.

Josh Giddey was the top scorer on the Australian squad with 25 points on 11-for-18 shooting, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, but 6 turnovers in his account.

With the loss, Australia is now out of the FIBA World Cup playoffs, as it's mathematically impossible for them to reach both Germany and Slovenia.
