After previously being one of the highest-scoring teams in the FIBA World Cup, Canada struggled to score throughout the entire 40 minutes. In the end, they could overcome Brazil and lost 65-69 (13-16, 24-11, 15-18, 13-24).

The favorites controlled the game in the first half, but Brazil started slowly clawing back in the second half. Lucas Dias hit a triple to end the third quarter (45-52), sparking a run by Brazil.

With 7 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Brazil was already in the lead (53-52).

Both teams continued playing neck-and-neck throughout the remainder of the quarter, but Brazil was the team that had the lead coming into the last minute.

Lu Dort hit a clutch three-pointer with 44 seconds remaining, but the shot was taken after the shot clock buzzer. Yago dos Santos converted a driving layup in the following possession, and Canada could not come back.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the top scorer on the Canadian roster with 23 points (5 AST) but on just 8-for-18 shooting. Lu Dort was the only other player to score in double digits (17 PTS).

Bruno Caboclo led Brazil with a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds, adding 3 blocks to the tally as well.

Both teams will need to win their last game on Sunday in order to advance to the FIBA World Cup quarterfinals. As such, either Canada or the reigning world champions Spain will not advance past the Second Round.
