Cleveland Cavaliers to sign forward Marcus Morris
The Cleveland Cavaliers aresigning free agent forward Marcus Morris to a 10-daycontract, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The 6-foot-9 forward startedthis season with the Los Angeles Clippers but eventually got tradedto the Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs. However, Morrisdid not play a game for the Spurs and reportedly agreed to acontract buyout, paving the way for him to sign with theCavs.
Cleveland, the current thirdseed in the Eastern Conference with a 42-25 record, adds Morris toshore up their frontcourt rotation. Starting forward Evan Mobleyhas been out since March 12 due to a foot injury, while forwardsMax Strus and Dean Wade have also been dealing withinjuries.
According to Charania, Morris isexpected to be available for Monday's game against the IndianaPacers and he will be playoff-eligible.
Over his 14-year NBA career,Morris has averaged 12 points a game while shooting over 37% fromthree. The 34-year-old will provide a veteran presence while addingscoring and shooting to a young and contending Cavaliersteam.
