Germany beat Team USA 113-111 in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 semifinal, eliminating the Americans from title contention. Andreas Obst led the way for Germans with 24 points.

Germany remains the only unbeaten team in the FIBA Basketball World Cup after eliminating Team USA from title contention.

Germany beat the Americans 113-111 (33-31, 26-29, 35-24, 19-27) in the semifinal and will face Serbia in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 final on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Team USA will face Canada in the 3rd-place game.

After a difficult 3rd quarter, Team USA tried to get close, but Germany successfully found answers to each of the American attacks. After Thiemann's turnaround jumper, Germany increased its lead to 12 points with 5:23 left (106-94).

However, Anthony Edwards made a dunk and sank a 3-pointer, Austin Reaves added a shot from deep and cut Team USA's deficit to 3 points with 3:17 left (103-106).

Dennis Schroder and Reaves exchanged baskets, but then the Los Angeles Lakers guard drew a foul, and with 1:35 left, Team USA was trailing by 1 point (107-108).

Yet, Andreas Obst responded with a 3-pointer, Schroder added a jumper, and with 40 seconds left, Germany was leading 113-107, and it was enough to achieve the victory.

Andreas Obst led the way for Germany, scoring 24 points (2/3 2PT, 4/8 3PT, 8/9 FT) and adding 6 assists, 1 steal, 1 turnover, and 24 EFF.

Daniel Theis contributed with 21 points (9/13 2PT, 1/2 3PT), 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, and 26 EFF.

After a close first half, Germany gained the momentum after the halftime.

Isaac Bonga made a 3-pointer, Johannes Thiemann added a layup, while Andreas Obst sank another 3-pointer, and after a 15-9 run, the Germans gained a double-digit lead at the end of the 3rd quarter (94-84).

Anthony Edwards led the way for Team USA, finishing the game with 23 points (8/9 2PT, 2/8 3PT, 1/2 FT), 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 turnovers, 1 steal, and 26 EFF.
