The EuroLeague finalists will face Zalgiris Kaunas and Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, while Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade will also take on the same opponents over the two-day span.
"The tournament gives us the opportunity to test what level we are at before the EuroLeague tips off. It will give us a good picture of where we can get to this year," coach Giorgos Bartzokas commented talking to Cypriot radio station Sports FM 95.0.
"We have six international players. We are the team with the most internationals in the EuroLeague," the Greek coach continued.
Olympiacos played their first pre-season game against Promitheas Patras on Thursday afternoon. However, following the injuries of George Papas and Alec Peters, the game was suspended with eight minutes left to play and the host team leading 61-45. According to the official information, Peters suffered a left acromioclavicular distension, while Papas experienced a muscle pull.
Eight core players were missing from that game: Shaquielle McKissic, Nigel Williams-Goss, Kostas Papanikolaou, Thomas Walkup, Mustapha Fall, Giannoulis Larentzakis, Michalis Lountzis and Nikola Milutinov. Fall will enter the Reds' training schedule this Saturday, while the rest (apart from Milutinov, who's still in Manila with the Serbian NT) will join the squad on Monday.
When Olympiacos announced their last signing to date, the calendar read July 15. It was the day big man Giorgos Tanoulis was announced. Several players, including Mike James, Terence Davis and , have been rumored to be on the Greek champs' radar since then. However, Olympiacos haven't made a move which most likely be their last one in the preseason.
Asked about any future signings, Bartzokas confirmed that the roster is yet to be completed.
"We will take one more player," he said. "We are a high-level team. We need to get a player who will make us better. We have targeted 3-4 cases," the back-to-back EuroLeague Coach of The Year concluded.
Prior to departing for Cyprus, Olympiacos will host Olimpia Milano on September 15 (behind closed doors) and 17, when Vassilis Spanoulis' jersey will be retired.
