Anthony Edwards told Team USA teammates Wolves would be a top-3 seed
Anthony Edwards didn’t mince anywords when he declared his Minnesota Timberwolves would be atop-three seed in the Western Conference this season.
The Timberwolves’ youngsuperstar guard shared in a postgame interview following their winvs the Golden State Warriors how he said to his American teammatesat the FIBA World Cup in Manila last year that Minnesota would bein the top three teams in the West.
Edwards also mentioned a coupleof other bold opinions on each of their places in the standingscome the season – which some of them disagreed on – but he was‘cool’ with it.
“I told them we’re going to be top three in theWest and they were like, ‘Nah, y’all going to be in the play-inagain, it’s cool,” Edwards said.
Sure enough, Edwards has backedwhat he said back then with the Timberwolves being currently the3rd seed in the West with a 49-22 record. They even had the West’sbest record for three months until the Nuggets and the Thundersurpassed them.
Edwards continued. “I actuallytold them that Orlando was going to be in the playoffs. I told themthat Tyrese [Haliburton] would be in the play-in game. I told themthat New York would be super good.
Edwards got it right asHaliburton and the Indiana Pacers continue to survive the EasternConference playoff race (currently the 6th-seeded team with a 41-32record).
The Orlando Magic, who Edwardsalso mentioned would be in the playoffs, have already clinched aplayoff spot and are fighting with the Cleveland Cavaliers and theNew York Knicks for 3rd-5th spots in the East. The Knicks have alsobeen one of the best teams in the NBA despite having Julius Randleand Mitchell Robinson out for the past two months behind theirall-star point guard Jalen Brunson.
