Simanic cannot do anything for three months, he said. After the period ends, his lone kidney needs to heal fully. Then, he needs to pass a physical test, after which he will be able to start thinking about a comeback onto the basketball court.

During the match against South Sudan, Simanic received a blow to the kidney area with just under two minutes remaining and could not continue the match. After leaving the game, Simanic was sent to a hospital in Manila, where he underwent surgery during the night.
Even though it was initially believed that everything went smoothly, Simanic faced serious complications, and one of his kidneys had to be removed. He wasn't able to help the Serbian national team anymore.
"I'm doing great, really! In the beginning, it was really awkward. Day by day, it's getting better. I've started walking and eating, so I hope for a speedy recovery," he told Radio Belgrade.
According to BasketNews information, the complications initially continued even after the second surgery that removed the kidney, as Simanic's remaining kidney wasn't functioning properly.
However, the situation improved as time went on, and there was no risk of the injury getting any worse anymore.
"After I had the two operations, I practically didn't know anything for five days. I didn't even have a phone," Simanic said. "When I managed to physically reach my mobile phone for the first time, I sent them (the Serbian national team) a message and that really lifted their morale. Their victories meant a lot to me, so we complemented each other in that way. I followed them through a mobile app."
It is currently unclear when Simanic could get back on the court. One thing is certain, though - he will not be back until December at least.
"For now, I don't know much. Of course, it's possible that I'll play again. I only know that I can't do anything for three months. After that, my kidney needs to heal," the player said. "I'm waiting for physical tests, and then we will know everything."
