A new season is about to start for Virtus Bologna and is gonna be an intriguing one. Several players left, including Serbian star Milos Teodosic, who returned to Serbia to join Crvena Zvezda.

Sergio Scariolo returned to Bologna and talked to the media for the first time before the beginning of the season. The Italian head coach shared his views about the new roster and the goals for the upcoming season.

"I'm trying to know more about the team and the new players", Scariolo said to the reporters. "I have a lot of energy and enthusiasm because this new season is gonna be very demanding so we have to be ready".

Talking about the goals for the upcoming season, Scariolo preferred to not give any specific indications, deflecting the question.

"Goals and philosophy? That's a question for the management", Scariolo clarified. "The club built this team and they gave it to me. The roster was built by the management and we should give them the necessary credit for being able to make this roster within the resources available. Now it's up to us to do the best".

The Italian head coach also talked about the situation of Iffe Lundberg. The Danish player has been on the market for the entire offseason but he's still a part of the roster. The club decided to place him away from the rest of the roster. The former Phoenix Suns guard is currently training with the team but he's not playing.

"Regarding Lundberg, the decision was made by the management", Scariolo made it clear. "The club made a communication to the player's entourage, we'll see what's gonna happen in the next few days. He's training really well, as he always did. These are decisions based on balancing the resources we have available. Currently, Iffe is not considered as part of the first team's roster".

Virtus wasn't able to qualify for the EuroLeague playoffs last season. According to coach Scariolo, trying to secure a spot in the EuroLeague playoffs this season is gonna be even more difficult.

"Looking at the EuroLeague rosters, it looks to me that the teams that made the best moves were the ones that finished outside of the playoffs last season", Scariolo explained. "The competition is gonna be even more difficult than last season, we need to be ready and prepare accordingly".
