The first quarter was close, with the favorites leading by a couple of points. With Real Madrid up by five in the second quarter, the Chus Mateo-led team constructed several successful possessions in a row and gained a 9-point advantage (32-23).
Real Madrid ended the first half on a better note and had a 13-point lead (44-31) coming into the break. Unicaja, however, battled back and tied the game at 54 with under two minutes remaining in the third, following a 13-4 run.
Malaga's team kept it close throughout the remaining 10 minutes. However, Real Madrid outclassed Unicaja in the fourth quarter and ultimately got the victory despite the opposition.
Facundo Campazzo, who was named the MVP of the mini-tournament, led the way for Real Madrid with 19 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals. Edy Tavares added a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Mario Hezonja contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds.
Kendrick Perry was the top scorer on Unicaja's roster with 17 points.
With the win, Real Madrid captured their sixth SuperCup in a row.
