Tennis star Rafael Nadal eyes Real Madrid presidency as a capacity he would like to see himself after he retires from professional sports.

"Would I like to be [president]? I think so," Nadaltold Movistar in an interview on Monday. "I think I'd like to. But there are a lot of things. Right now, there's nothing to say because we have the best possible president [Florentino Perez]."

"What I think today, I might not think tomorrow. There are lots of twists and turns in life. You have to know if you're qualified to do this kind of thing. I'm quite realistic. I know my limitations. I don't know if I'd be capable or not. Time will tell," Nadal added.

The 37-year-old tennis legend was humble, saying he doesn't fit such a position yet.

"I haven't asked [Perez] about it. I think the media get carried away. I don't think I fulfill the requirements to be [president]," Nadal said.

Real Madrid's statutes set out strict criteria to become the club's president. It includes being the club's member for 20 years, the ability to personally guarantee 15% of the club's annual budget, and holding Spanish nationality.

The current Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has performed his duties since June 2009. Currently, it's his second term as Real Madrid's president, and the club enjoys one of its most successful eras both in football and basketball.

The upcoming Real Madrid presidential election will take place in 2025.
