Bruno Caboclo has yet to join Umana Reyer Venezia training camp. The Brazilian international hasn't arrived to Italy, in a situation that set the alarm off on the Italian side's camp.

Initially, Caboclo supposedlymissed his scheduled flight to Europe. But as time and days went by, it became clear that he had no intention at all of playing with the EuroCup/Serie A team.

Federico Casarin, the president of Venezia, expressed uncertainty about Caboclo's status, mentioning rumors suggesting he might have joined an Israeli team or is expected to join Partizan.

"We have taken formal legal steps by communicating through our lawyers to all basketball leagues. We strongly discourage any club from considering his services, as Caboclo remains under contract with our organization," he told Il Corriere del Veneto.

But the case reached a new peak after Venezia announced that the player has already communicated to the club his refusal to join its ranks. According to the official announcement issued by the Italian team, Caboclo's reps cited "personal reasons" for which the athlete cannot and will not show up in Venice.

"This decision, completely unexpected and received with amazement and dismay by the organization, represents a very serious violation of the agreement between the parties, which are still fully in force and bind Bruno Caboclo to carry out his activity of a professional basketball player for the 2023/2024 season exclusively in favor of Umana Reyer Venezia and for no other club in any League and/or Federation," the press release reads.

Venezia also claim that they have suffered "enormous damage" and point out that they are entitled to take legal action against the player in order to best preserve their rights and interests.

On June 30, Caboclo signed a one-year contract worth 800,000 euros net. During the 2023 FIBA World Cup, he communicated to Venezia that he had changed agent, switching from Igor Crespo to Hazan Sports Management.

Once the World Cup was over, the player's side had been silent and refrained from addressing the rumors regarding Caboclo's future and intentions.

According to Monday's Israeli media reports, the Brazilian big man is ready to participate in a U.S. tour with Maccabi Ra'anana, a club that will play friendly games against the Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Minnesota Timberwolves. Caboclo's intention appears to be to use this opportunity to secure a contract in the NBA.

However, the deal he signed with Venezia lacks an exit clause, which means he cannot participate in any friendly games without the approval of his current team.

The 27-year-old averaged 16.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per World Cup game while playing with Brazil in Jakarta.
