"When I was 22, my worldview of basketball was so 'it's just the NBA.' Now, at 37, I've had the chance to get a full perspective. I'd say the NBA is checkers, and Europe is chess," he said.
The last sentence got traction on X, formerly Twitter, and got reposted by a popular basketball account, Legion Hoops.
"NBA easy... EuroLeague hard. Everybody says the same. Joel Embiid can't average 30 in the EuroLeague," one fan commented. That's when Kevin Durant came in.
The Phoenix Suns superstar completely disagreed.
"F**k outta here lmao. Y'all are insane," he wrote.
The two then went back and forth with the fan trying to prove his point, while KD was trying to discredit him.
The topic of scoring being easier in Europe has gained traction in recent years, with several notable superstars like Luka Doncic saying it's easier to have big numbers in the NBA.
