Recently, Evan Fournier pointed out that replacing Colllet wouldn't make sense.
"Vincent Collet and his staff have done a good job, especially since 2019. However, there are adjustments to be made regarding how we integrate young players into the French national team at an earlier stage," the New York Knicks guard said in an interview withIsabelle Lange of RTL.fr.
In the Stephen Time show on RMC, Jean-Pierre Siutat opened up on Collet's future, clarifying that the coach of Boulogne-Levallois remains the man for the job.
"We will see what we all decide together, but very sincerely I think that Vincent will remain the man for the job to lead the team in 2024," Siutat stressed, while also referring to the World Cup.
"Of course, the players, the staff and all of us are responsible for the failure, as everyone takes credit for every win and medal. Vincent has resigned twice, in 2016 and 2017. We didn’t accept it, as we were sure that we would bounce back and that was confirmed afterwards," he pointed out.
Furthermore, Siutat also announced that the FFBB had been able to discuss with Joel Embiid about his future in the French team. A deadline has been set for him to make a choice on whether or not he will attend the Paris Olympic Games with the Blues. It will be October 10, even before the start of the NBA season.
"As of today, he is not a member of the national team, but we are working on the specific case," Siutat said.
"We had the opportunity to talk with him. Now, we're waiting for his response. We also know that the US national team would like to have him as well. Anyway, we'll hear from him soon. We hope he knows that too," he commented.
