Boston Celtics point guard JrueHoliday is set to decline his option for the 2024-2025 season tosign a new four-year, $135 million extension deal with the team, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Holiday, who arrived with theCeltics after a blockbuster offseason trade, will now be lockedwith a solid Boston Celtics core with championship aspirations foryears to come.
The 6-foot-4 guard will doexactly what he did three years ago in Milwaukee – landing there inthe offseason, spending a few months, getting familiar and used toa new place, and getting comfortable. He signed a then four-year$135 million deal with the Bucks, resulting in an NBA title and anOlympic gold medal. Holiday is hoping he could repeat the sameprocess this year with Boston and with Team USA in thesummer.
According to Wojnarowski,Holiday will become the fourth player to sign a fully guaranteeddeal worth more than $100 million at 33 or older, including LeBronJames, Steph Curry, and Al Horford with this new deal. He will nowmake $30.1 million annually starting next season, which will makehim the third-highest-paid Celtic behind Jaylen Brown ($49.3million) and Jayson Tatum ($34.8 million).
Furthermore, this extension willkeep Holiday with the Celtics through the 2027-2028 season and willsave around $30 million in cap space for Boston to help them keeptogether their talented and expensive core.
