President Vangelis Liolios has reportedly reached a decision, and Vassilis Spanoulis is emerging as the chosen candidate to become the new head coach of the Greek national team. This news was first reported by Sport24 and has been confirmed by SDNA.

The official announcement is anticipated on Monday.

Spanoulis' upcoming challenges include the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers, the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, and possibly the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The choice of Spanoulis reportedly aligns with the federation's vision for a leader who can inspire and rally the team. His strong connection with Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo adds another layer of significance.

Spanoulis, an Olympiacos Piraeus legend, began his head coaching career in 2022 and has since been at the helm of the Basketball Champions League team, Peristeri B.C.
