Vassilis Spanoulis is officially replacing Dimitris Itoudis as the new Greek national team head coach, the Greek Basketball Federation announced.

Spanoulis and the Greek Basketball Federation agreed to a 2-year deal.

Spanoulis' upcoming challenges include the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers, the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, and possibly the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The choice of Spanoulis reportedly aligns with the federation's vision for a leader who can inspire and rally the team. His strong connection with Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo adds another layer of significance.

Spanoulis, an Olympiacos Piraeus legend, began his head coaching career in 2022 and has since been at the helm of the Basketball Champions League team, Peristeri B.C.
