Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv guard Wade Baldwin will miss the 2023-24 EuroLeague opener against Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade on Thursday, the Israeli team officially announced.

According to Maccabi's report, Baldwin underwent an MRI, revealing a muscle strain in his back.

The announcement also stated that he will be absent for the next two games, with further testing scheduled for a later date.

The EuroLeague Round 1 clash against Partizan is slated for October 5, followed by the Israeli league opener against Ironi Kiryat Ata on October 8.

In his debut season with Tel Aviv last year, the 27-year-old Baldwin solidified his position as one of the premier guards in the EuroLeague. Finishing as the runner-up for the Alphonso Ford EuroLeague Top Scorer Trophy, he averaged 17.2 points per game, narrowly missing the league lead.

Baldwin also ranked fourth in average PIR (17.6) and seventh in assists (5.1) in 2022-23.

During the playoffs, Baldwin continued to shine, leading in assists with 5.8 per game, securing second place in scoring with 19.8 points per game, and tying for second in PIR with 24.0. Maccabi fought a tough five-game series against AS Monaco before exiting the competition.
