Donovan Mitchell announced he wouldn't sign a contract extension during the 2023-24 season but reassured fans about the possibility next summer.

However, he reassured fans that the possibility of signing an extension remains open next summer.
"I want it to be known that I still have the opportunity to sign an extension next summer," Mitchell told Tony Pesta of Fear The Sword. "I don't think a lot of people understand that aspect."
Currently under contract with the Cavaliers until the 2024-25 season, Mitchell also holds a player option for 2025-26 valued at $37 million.
Mitchell, who was traded to the Cavs before the 2022-23 campaign from the Utah Jazz, had the best season in his NBA career, averaging 28.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 68 games.
