Both Larkin and Wilbekin did not play for the Turkish national team this past summer, and the country's federation (TBF) decided to take action against the two players.
TBF imposed a five-game ban in the BSL and fined them 90,000 Turkish Liras (~3140€). Additionally, Larkin and Wilbekin lost their domestic player status in the tournament.
Fenerbahce is planning to go to court to fight against the decision that was upheld by the Arbitration Board, the organization announced. The case will be brought to the European Court of Human Rights, FIBA, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Fenerbahce argue that all required documentation about the player's required rehabilitation process was provided, and the decision was unjust.
"I was talking to the people in the national team. Everyone who looked for me managed to reach me. Every time my phone rang, I answered it. I told them my plan. I needed rehab," Wilbekin said in an interview in September.
Larkin, meanwhile, posted a lengthy letter explaining the situation and providing his own explanation that he had provided all required documentation to prove that his absence was due to injury as well.
