Nikola Mirotic spectacular debut not enough as Fenerbahce beat Milan / News - Basketnews.com

Nikola Mirotic finished his EuroLeague debut game for Milan with 27 points (6/9 2PT, 3/5 3PT, 6/8 FT), 11 rebounds, and 38 PIR, but it wasn't enough as Fenerbahce won the game 85-82 after overtime.

Nikola Mirotic was unstoppable in his EuroLeague debut with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan (0-1), but his effort wasn't enough for the Italian team.

Ettore Messina's squad lost its EuroLeague season opener 82-85 (23-19, 12-19, 19-24, 22-14, 6-9) against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul (1-0).

Mirotic finished the game with 27 points (6/9 2PT, 3/5 3PT, 6/8 FT), 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 5 drawn fouls, and 38 PIR.

During the overtime, Fenerbahce stepped up when it mattered the most. Wilbekin sank a 3-pointer with 46 seconds to go, increasing the hosts' lead to 5 points (84-79).

Mirotic answered with three straight free throws, while Guduric answered with only one free throw, making it a 3-point game (85-82).

Mirotic had an opportunity to take the game to second overtime, but his 3-pointer went off the mark, and the final buzzer announced Fenerbahce's win.

With 7:34 left in the 4th quarter, Fenerbahce had a 7-point lead (63-56), but the visitors managed to bounce back. Shavon Shields made a 3-pointer, Kyle Hines added a layup and cut the deficit to 1-point (64-65).

Both teams were exchanging baskets up until the end of the period, and after Nicolo Melli's jumper, the game was tied at 76 with 15.9 seconds to go.

Scottie Wilbekin attempted a jumper, but it didn't go in, while Shavon Shields managed to shoot an open 3-pointer just in time, but it was also off the mark, and the game went to overtime.

Wilbekin led the show for Fenerbahce, finishing the game with 19 points (3/6 2PT, 4/8 3PT, 1/1 FT), 1 rebound, 4 assists, and 16 PIR.
