Crvena Zvezda had previously announced that a calf injury would prevent Bjelica from playing in the first games of both the EuroLeague and the ABA League.

According to the report, the new injury, which is in the same area as the one that sidelined the player for multiple months last season, has caused the player to rethink his future and retire instead.
