The Australian point guard confirmed that he has regained all his physical qualities showing no apprehension in his movements, as he finished with 10 points and 3 assists on 4/6 FGs in 14 minutes.

He scored his first basket overpowering LeBron James with a hook shot, but the Nets ended up losing the scrimmage, 126-129.

LeBron James (10 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds) also played limited minutes (14).

Last season, he averaged 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.0 assists on 43.9% free-throw shooting. However, he played his last game on February 16, before the All-Star break.

Simmons has only played 42 games in the past two seasons and has been dealing with a back injury since getting traded to the Brooklyn Nets. During the Nets Media Day, he appeared optimistic about the upcoming season and told reporters that he's feeling healthy both physically and mentally.

On October 3, 2022, Simmons had scored six points with five assists and four rebounds in his comeback game, after mental health and injury issues meant he did not play at all during the 2021-22 season.
