While fighting for a rebound, Mayen hit Baynes with an elbow, for which the ex-NBA big man got furious. He almost immediately received a technical foul and was later ejected from the game.
Baynes later exchanged words with Taipans players while going to the locker room at halftime. ESPN reportthat Baynes also had a physical altercation with Taipans head coach Adam Forde.

The NBL has announced that Mayen was handed a one-game suspension and a 1550 AUD fine. Baynes, meanwhile, was sent to a Single Member Tribunal.
As defined by Basketball Australia, a tribunal is a special hearing to determine the punishment a player or an organization gets. A full tribunal consists of at least four members but can be reduced to a single member, as it was done in the case of Aron Baynes.
The charged player, his team's representative, game officials, other people involved in the incident, and witnesses of the incident are required to be present at the hearing.
Similarly to a real-life procedure in court, evidence is presented, and each side gets to argue its case against the panel. If a charged person admits the charges, no witnesses can be called, speeding up the process. If a player does not accept the charges, he may admit part of the charges but wish to bring other evidence or completely deny the charges.
The Tribunal questions every person involved and later determines the appropriate punishment according to the bylaws. A maximum penalty for unsportsmanlike behavior is a 6-week suspension, but Baynes may receive an additional penalty if the physical altercation with head coach Adam Forde is confirmed.
