Talking about a Bones Hyland trade the organization executed before the trade deadline during the 2022-23 season, Booth was honest about it.
"I knew you couldn't have two guys that couldn't guard, and we couldn't have two guys that were young and kind of more 'me guys'. Mike makes $30 million. He's one of the best shooters in the NBA. So, Bones, there's no place for you," he said about Hyland and Michael Porter Jr.
The next day after the interview came out, Booth addressed the quote during a Nuggets preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The executive essentially accused The Ringer of journalistic malpractice by publishing a quote he did not want to be public.
"Under no circumstances would I make or approve of those kinds of comments for public consumption. That's not my character, as a person or an executive," he said on the ESPN2 broadcast.
Booth later added that it was an inaccurate representation of the two players and that he considers Michael Porter Jr. a core piece of the franchise.
