Gay, a 37-year-old NBA player, had inked a one-year deal with the Warriors in late September. This season would have marked his 18th year in the league.
Gay has averaged 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds across 1120 NBA games. The UConn alum entered the NBA in 2006 and has contributed to various teams, including the Grizzlies, Raptors, Kings, Spurs, and most recently, the Utah Jazz in 2021-23.
Gay's basketball journey extends beyond the NBA hardwood, as he represented Team USA in two FIBA World Cups, playing an important role in securing gold medals in 2010 and 2014.
Joining Gay on the waiver list is Rodney McGruder, aged 32, who also joined the Warriors in the same timeframe as Gay. Over his seven-season, 317-game NBA career, McGruder has registered 5.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists.
