Ivanovic replacedVladimir Jovanovic on November 11, 2022, and hadagreed to a deal until the end of the 2023-24 season.

During Ivanovic's tenure, Zvezda were defeated in the final of the ABA league by Partizan, won the title in KLS, as well as in the Radivoj Korac Cup. The club entered the new season with great ambitions.

A large number of signings took place, but they did not start well. They only beat LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in the EuroLeague opener, before suffering three straight losses to Zalgiris in Kaunas, Monaco at home and Virtus in Bologna.

Ivanovic, 66, was fired less than a week before Red Star take on Partizan next Thursday (October 26) and then again for the ABA League (October 30).

"KK Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet informs the public that Dusko Ivanovic is no longer the first coach of our senior team," the club's press release mentions.

"On this occasion, the club once again thanks Duško Ivanović for everything we have done together in the previous period, the tremendous work and effort he put in, the way he represented the club as the first team coach, and wishes him a lot of Health and success in the coming period and in the new professional challenge," it concludes.

Even though Crvena Zvezda vouched to inform the public in a timely manner about the Montenergin's successor,Meridian Sport reports that Giannis Sfairopoulos is the first option to replace him.

The Greek coach has coached Olympiacos Piraeus (2014-2018) and Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv (2018-2022) throughout his career.
